Bowdon’s Community Vision
Bowdon
Our Community Vision
In the year 2017, the Bowdon-Chaseley-Heaton community is known for its environmentally sound homes, farms, and businesses that are dedicated to the production and use of green energy and locally grown and processed organic foods, as well as educational and recreational tourism.
The town of Bowdon is clean and neat, and trees line the streets. Every residential lot has an owner-occupied home and a well-groomed yard burgeoning with flowers and shrubs. The infrastructure of the town is up-to-date with lots of drinkable water, new sidewalks, and excellent lighting.
These improvements parallel an increase in small business start-ups centered around the commercial kitchen installed in the school, which has initiated a catering business and several ethnic and organic food processing operations. Many of the new business people have been helped by business and marketing classes held at the library tech center. A thriving Farmers’ Market takes place during much of the summer and fall, attracting customers not only for the foodstuffs, but also for locally made arts and crafts.
The school also hosts senior citizens for adult education courses in the library tech center, as well as families and youth for exercise programs, arts classes, recreational opportunities, and general all around fun. In addition, the local youth are involved in organic gardening, arts programs, green energy recycling projects, and overseeing our geocaching sites.
Visitors come and go, pleased with the lodging available for hunters, birders, vacationers, and returning alumni, as well as with the thriving businesses offering groceries, excellent meat processing, gasoline, and food and drink. The venerable old school building is home to retreats, receptions, and reunions for people from all across the country.
The vitality emanating from all of these facets of the community is self-perpetuating and attractive to residents, visitors, and those people wanting to relocate to an energetic, forward-looking community.
